New Year, New Office Staff!

In the last two months, we have welcomed three new people to our growing Pivotal team. For this week’s blog, we asked each of them to tell us about themselves, and to find out what it’s really like to work at Pivotal. Here’s what they had to say:

Siobhan O’Brien – Training Team Administrator

Siobhan O’Brien- Training Team Administrator

“Last month I joined Pivotal Education as a Training Team Administrator. I was made to feel right at home from the start, with such welcoming and friendly staff. It is a great feeling to know that there is such a supportive team around me. Starting a new job gives you such mixed emotions from being nervous and excited, as well as not knowing who or what anything is-  it can be overwhelming. The staff at Pivotal have given me reassurance and support and I have felt comfortable enough to ask questions (even if it is continuous!). Due to all staff being so lovely I have found it a lot easier to learn new things and I am keen to want to know more, as well as to help out wherever I can.

Before I began working at Pivotal for six years I worked in an Early Years setting, which I enjoyed tremendously. It was a pleasure to experience observing children come into their own little personalities and to learn lifelong skills. When they were in my care, I found it very important to provide a nurturing environment so that firstly the children felt safe in their own environment, but also that parents could gain trust. After all, children are their parents world and leaving them is a huge deal. It was essential to be a welcoming face and to have a positive manner, especially for the first day of term. If I felt nervous and anxious starting my new job- how must the children of felt starting their first day of school?

When I joined Pivotal, it was great to see that the whole team believe in the approach found in the Pivotal Curriculum, and to see the evidence of such positive changes being made in many schools. It was an eye opener to see exactly how far Pivotal go to make a difference; they definitely go “over and above”. From my experience of learning that having a positive manner and being a nurturing character is essential in children’s development, I am pleased to have found a company that is focused on this and helps others to do the same. We share the same values, and I am sure I have found the perfect job for me.

I am looking forward to seeing more and more positive changes in 2019, with more children being given the opportunity to be recognised for the right reasons and to blossom into confident, happy learners. I am also excited about working alongside our team of Trainers who sprinkle their words of wisdom everywhere!”

“For more time than I would care to admit to, I’ve worked in primary schools as a Deputy Head Teacher, Supply Teacher and everything in between. Now my three boys are all making their own way in the world, I decided it was time for a change. I started at Pivotal Education in October and from the outset I was struck by the friendliness of the staff. The passion and integrity they demonstrated about their roles within Pivotal and delivering an outstanding service made me realise I had struck gold.

My role is Events Administrator and it is different to anything else I have ever done, but my background in teaching has given me an important insight into the value and content of what Pivotal Education delivers. Personally I have had a steep learning curve to get to grips with all the processes I now deal with on a day to day basis and I’m still learning, but throughout my colleagues have really embodied the Pivotal ethos of ‘calm and consistent behaviour’. Nothing is too much trouble and they have the patience of saints!

I love meeting new people and this year the Pivotal/CPI (our Parent Company) Christmas party was a great opportunity to socialise with my colleagues and to meet others from our parent company, whilst having some fun and getting very muddy taking part in team building activities!

One of the things I was most looking forward to was attending Levels 1-3 of the Pivotal Curriculum ‘Train the Trainers’ programme. I attended the fast track programme last week and it was lovely to spend time with a fantastic group of people who were so enthusiastic and insightful. Meeting Instructors whose schools were at different stages of their journeys… sharing best practice… brilliant!

My previous teaching background will obviously be really useful at Pivotal, but, more importantly, it will give me invaluable insight into the running of the courses and my role as Events Administrator.”

Aida Goslett – Stock Assistant

“I recently joined Pivotal Education as a temp and I am now here as a permanent member of the Pivotal team, where I am responsible for managing and sending out all of the customer orders.  I love working within a team of like minded people, where everyone pulls together to get the job done. It’s the friendly environment teamed with the fantastic work that Pivotal does within the educational space that drew me to the company. I’m really excited about watching our business develop and grow through 2019, it’s going to be an exciting year”!

If you want to join our team, we’re currently looking for a Principal Pivotal Trainer (GPI – Global Professional Instructor). Take a look here.
