Hot Choc Friday Gift Pack
This Friday break, recognise a pupil who has gone ‘Over and Above’ this week. Perhaps this could be one of the children who comes every day, is well mannered polite and helps out without being asked; one of the children who can go unnoticed if we are not careful. Children love positive recognition (often more than material reward).
Here are three more simple ways to ratchet up your recognition for the pupils who are behaving brilliantly:
- Stop writing ‘naughty names on the board’; it is giving recognition for the wrong behaviour. Instead have a recognition board, where the children who are doing the right thing are celebrated. Speak to those who are wobbling privately.
- In staff briefing mention two pupils who have had a fantastic week. Ask all adults to ‘praise on sight’!
- have a focus week on giving first attention to those who are doing the right thing (Pivotal Pillar Number 2)
